General Submission Information

Below is an outline of the important information you need to know to publish with Tea & Books Press.

Formatting

Please use the below formatting for all submissions to Tea & Books Press unless the formatting is otherwise specified in the submission rules for a particular collection/anthology/journal.

  • Please submit your piece as a word document/google doc
  • Document Name: “Author Name – Work Title”
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Size: 12
  • Spacing: Double spaced
  • Header: author name and work title
  • Footer: page numbers

Editing

Your piece must be fully edited before you submit it to Tea & Books Press.

There will be a round of editing/proofreading before publication but this cannot be the first round of edits for your piece.

Compensation

Compensation differs slightly between Tea & Books Press publications. This information will be on the specific submission page for each publication.

However, all authors will receive an eBook copy of the publication their work is in, and a 5% discount on author copies that they can order to sell at events such as markets, book fairs, and for signed copies.

Contract

Anyone who publishes with Tea & Books Press will be required to sign a contract that states Tea & Books Press has the rights to publish, print, and profit off their work.

If an author changes their mind in regard to publishing with Tea & Books Press, and no longer wishes to publish their work with us, they must do so before they sign the contract (to not incur a fee).

If the author does not sign and return the contract before the stated deadline for that contract, it will be understood that the author refused publication and their work will no longer be considered for publication. 

Terminating Contract

Authors hold the right to pull their content from publishing at any time before that particular issue is printed. However, if an author decides to pull their work from publishing after they have signed a contract (and wish to terminate that contract), they will have to pay a fee of $30aud (for journals)/$50aud (for novels and anthology contributions) to compensate Tea & Books Press for the work already put into the author’s content. (This fee can be waived in certain circumstances under the publisher’s discretion).

Exclusivity

Tea & Books Press holds a 6 month publishing exclusivity on all works contributed to journals, anthologies, or other collections published.

This 6 months starts from the date of publication. Works submitted and accepted can be published elsewhere after those 6 month period.

Any previously published works that authors are wanting to submit must not be under a current exclusivity agreement with a different publisher or publication.
